LONDON, Dec 28 (IranMania) - Head of Parties House Hassan Ghafourifard criticized conservative and reformist parties for their indolent approach toward the May 2005 presidential elections.

Speaking to IRNA on Monday, Ghafourifard said neither camp has officially fielded a candidate nor have they come out with an election plan to help the public make a sound judgment.

"They seem to be in a state of confusion because neither camp has yet launched their election campaign with only six months left to the polls," he said.

Under the circumstances, he said, one cannot expect a high voter turnout.

Iran's President Mohammad Khatami's eight-year tenure comes to an end in the summer of 2005.

Iran's former Higher Education Minister, Mostafa Moin, is the likely nominee of reformists though he has yet to officially announce his candidacy.

Speculations are rife in the Iranian media that State Expediency Council Chairman Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani might run for the presidency."
