Rowhani candidacy certain

Rowhani candidacy certain: "Rowhani candidacy certain

TEHRAN, Dec. 20 (MNA) -- Reports indicate that Hassan Rowhani, the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNCS), will certainly run for president and is preparing to announce his decision soon.
As a member of the conservative clerics’ group the Combatant Clerical Association, it is predicted that his candidacy will cause a serious and important shakeup in the ranks of candidates in the conservative camp and even the rival faction.

The Mehr News Agency has learned that in informal meetings and conversations, Rohwani has repeatedly insisted on the candidacy of Expediency Council Chairman Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani because he considers Rafsanjani to be more qualified for the post and this has been the reason for the delay in announcing his decision.

Rowhani has been Iran’s main nuclear negotiator for more than a year.

Born in 1948 in Semnan, northeastern Iran, Rowhani served as a Majlis MP for five consecutive terms. He was twice Majlis vice speaker and headed the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee during his fifth term.

He studied theology and holds a Ph.D. in law from a British university.

Rowhani is also the acting director of the Center for Strategic Studies. The director of the center is Rafsanjani."
