TEHRAN, Dec. 28 (MNA) –- Secretary General of the Association of Women Journalists (AWJ) Jamileh Kadivar said here Tuesday that a group of reformists favor the candidacy of Expediency Council Chairman Akbar Hashemi in the presidential election scheduled to be held next spring.
The AWJ will only announce its position on presidential candidates after hearing their plans and becoming sure of their nominations, Kadivar told the Mehr News Agency.

She said that the association seeks to reach a consensus with other reformist parties on a particular candidate, adding that the association will also consider the candidates’ efficiency and their views on women’s affairs in its choice.

Kadivar went on to say that candidates who have a favorable view on political and cultural freedom as well as women’s activities are favored by the AWJ.

“We say no to those who view the presence of women as a risk in management activities and will not support those who refuse to welcome women in high-ranking managerial and particularly ministerial posts.”"
