Hadi Khamenei backs Karrubi for President

Iran Daily: "TEHRAN, Jan. 10--A prominent politician said on Sunday reformists have sufficient time to reach consensus on a single candidate.
Speaking on the sidelines of a gathering of the secretaries of Assembly of Combatant Clerics in Mashhad, Secretary-General of the Assembly of Imam Khomeini's Line Hadi Khamenei added that reformist groups are not facing any difficulty in reaching consensus on a single candidate, IRNA reported.
"Of course, all the 18 reformist political parties might not reach consensus, but a majority of reformists could take a unified decision on a single candidate," he said.
He further said ACC has held talks with other reformist political parties to come to terms with them.
"The reform movement has a popular basis and reformists have a good opportunity to win the upcoming presidential election slated for June 17," he said.
Asked to comment on whether former President Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani will run in the election and its impact on the election, Khamenei said it is not clear whether he will announce his candidacy.
"However, reformers have already announced Mehdi Karroubi as their favored candidate," he said."
