Iran Daily: "Judiciary Staff Banned From Electoral Partisanship

SEMNAN, Feb. 11--Persons working in the judicial system have been banned from publicly taking a stance vis-ˆ-vis candidates running in the ninth presidential elections.
In an interview with IRNA on Thursday, the deputy head of the judiciary, Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, said all judiciary personnel, including judges, are banned from speaking or acting in favor or against a presidential candidate, but are encouraged to promote a high voter turnout.
Noting that attending to electoral irregularities and violations is the judiciaryÕs duty, Raisi said, ÒAll justice departments will be instructed to confront any possible violations to ensure that elections are held in a sound and democratic manner.Ó"
