Iran Daily: Saeed Hajjarian says IIPF will wait to select candidate

Iran Daily: "IIPF Conditions Presidential Nomination

TEHRAN, Feb. 5-A veteran pro-reform activist said here Saturday that the mainstream reformist party, the Islamic Iran Participation Front (IIPF), would introduce
its nominee for the upcoming presidential vote only after the conservatives and former president, Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani clarify their nomination status.
Saeed Hajjarian told ISNA that the conservatives' main electoral decision-making body, the Coordination Council for the Islamic Revolution's Forces, would ultimately come up with a single nominee, warning that if the reformers fail to do so, they would only hurt their ir chances of victory.
"Reformers will work to resolve this problem in the next few months," he said, adding that the IIPF would accept e any decision taken by the so-called Expediency Board, whose senior members include President Mohammad Khatami, former prosecutor general, Seyyed Mohammad Mousavi Khoeiniha and former prime minister, Mir Hossein Mousavi.
He further noted that moderate presidential hopeful, ex-parliament speaker; Mehdi Karoubi would also accept the board's decision as the Hambastegi Party, which has voiced support for the mid-ranking cleric's candidacy, played a crucial role in founding the board.
Hajjarian, who survived an assassination attempt in March 2000, is a senior member of the Central Council of the Islamic Iran Participation Front."
