TEHRAN (MNA) – Taha Hashemi, a former parliamentarian who currently serves as the deputy director of the Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization for parliamentary affairs, said on Wednesday that former president Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani will certainly enter the presidential race and will revolutionize every thing. When asked by the Mehr News Agency whether he would back Rafsanjani’s candidacy, he said, “It is hard to find anybody who doesn’t welcome the presence of Hashemi in elections.”

Presently, Rafsanjani is the best choice for the presidential post, he pointed out.

A group of officials and intellectuals from West Azarbaijan Province on Tuesday asked Rafsanjani to nominate for presidential elections.

However, Rafsanjani said he hoped there would be no need for his nomination in the election.

“I am ready. But I will wait and hope there would be no need for my presence,” he noted.

Rafsanjani said he is just concerned with the development of Iran and the promotion of Islam.

He said the current situation in the country doesn’t allow him to remain indifferent.

The current chairman of the Expediency Council added that all the Iranian people wish to have a prosperous, wealthy and powerful country.

The next presidential election will be held in late spring."
