Fundamentalists only United In Opposition to Reformists

Iran Daily: "Commonality

AFTAB-E YAZD: Recent developments within the conservative camp, especially those who call themselves fundamentalists, shows that the main thing that fundamentalists have in common with each other is their opposition to reformers. In other words, had it not been due to their opposition to reformers, there would not have been a political current under the name of ’fundamentalists’. The fact that this group cannot have consensus over a single presidential candidate hints at deep differences of opinion among its members. However, when it comes to character assassination of reformist personalities, such as former Majlis Speaker Mehdi Karroubi, they seem to stand united."
