TEHRAN, April 17 (MNA) -– Mahdi Karrubi said in Kermanshah on Sunday that he is definitely running for president.
After being greeted by the Kermanshah governor and other local officials at the Kermanshah airport, the former Majlis speaker said that he was anticipating an enthusiastic presidential election.

Karrubi administration would have women cabinet ministers: official

The secretary general of the Women’s Islamic Society, Fatima Karrubi, said in Mashhad on Sunday that if elected president, Mahdi Karrubi would appoint women cabinet ministers and would pay special attention to women’s issues.

She told the Mehr News Agency that women’s expectations were not realized during previous administrations, adding that it was quite natural for women to call for the realization of their rights.

Qalibaf due in Khorasan on Tuesday

Presidential candidate Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf is scheduled to travel to Khorasan on Tuesday.

Qalibaf plans to meet people at the Shahid Beheshti Hall to elaborate on his programs but will not be meeting any local officials during the trip.

A conservative govt. should reform itself first: Tavakoli

Presidential candidate Ahmad Tavakoli said at a gathering in Hamedan on Sunday that if he wins the election, the top priority of his conservative government would be carrying out “conservative and comprehensive reform” in the country.

He went on to say that those who have ruled the country over the past 16 years are well aware of the fact that the current situation in Iran is not satisfactory and that the next conservative government should first reform the inefficient policies of the past."
