Polling Results: Rafsanjani 40% Qalibaf in Second Place

Rafsanjani to announce final decision on candidacy soon: "Conservatives had planned to move in line with Rafsanjani: MP

MP Ghodratollah Imani of the Majlis conservative faction said here on Sunday that the conservatives had initially planned to move in line with Rafsanjani in selecting their preferred candidate.

However, the Coordination Council for the Islamic Revolution Forces Committee took a hurried approach in choosing Ali Larijani as its final candidate, Imani told reporters.

Recent opinion polls have shown that former police chief Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf enjoys more support than other conservative candidates, he added.

According to polls, 40 percent of the people are likely to vote for Rafsanjani while Qalibaf stands in second place, the MP explained."
