LONDON, April 10 (IranMania) - A rightist think tank on Saturday said in case the candidature of Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani in the presidential election becomes definite, there should be no doubt that Rafsanjani will be the winner.

Speaking to IRNA, Amir Mohebbian added, “I really wish the rightists reach consensus over one single nominee. The members of the Council for Coordinating Forces of Islamic Revolution have apparently reached an agreement that they ultimately choose one candidate after conducting an opinion poll, but it seems that the candidates will not adhere to such an agreement.“

Mohebbian, a member of the editorial board of the Persian daily ’Resalat’, noted that the point is that all the rightist candidates feel they deserve to be elected next president and so it is not clear whether they would respect the decision of the Coalition of Developers of Islamic Iran or the council.

The rightist editor maintained that the rise in the number of candidates can lead to a healthy competition and bring about enhanced public participation, but this also affects the number of votes of the candidates of either faction.

Asked whether some rightist candidates would withdraw from the presidential race if Rafsanjani were to join the race, Mohebbian said, “It is possible that certain nominees could withdraw. But as long as certain candidates say if this or that person becomes a nominee ’they will run or not run’ instead of proving their own merits, it shows that they have no electoral plans.“"
