Qalibaf Meets Senior Clerics - Seems to Say Run Iran By Surverys?

Iran News - POLL WATCH: Rafsanjani feels obliged by faith: "Qalibaf Meets Senior Clerics
A presidential aspirant said by signing the agreement of rightists and accepting its conditions he has agreed to reach consensus over a single rightist candidate.

Speaking to IRNA after meeting religious authorities in Qom late Thursday, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf added that the most important demand of the religious authorities and the noble people of Iran is that rightists reach consensus over a single candidate.

“Based on the surveys conducted so far, it is clear that rightist forces must reach consensus by ultimately nominating the person who has garnered the highest number of votes (in public surveys),“ he said.

Commenting on the surveys, Qalibaf, a former police chief, said, “It is not possible that all six surveys could be unrealistic.“

He said he had come to Qom to present a report to religious authorities about his plans for presidency.

“For the time being, I have no plans to withdraw in favor of any specific candidate,“ he said.

During his stay in Qom, Qalibaf conferred with ayatollahs Hossein Nouri-Hamedani, Nasser Makarem-Shirazi, Lotfollah Safi-Golpayegani and Abdol Karim Mousavi-Ardebili."
